Why we built this
Tree removal pricing is notoriously opaque. Two companies can look at the same tree and hand you quotes that are hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars apart, with little explanation of why. We built TreeCostCalc to give homeowners a fast, transparent starting point: a free estimate you can generate in under a minute, before you ever pick up the phone.
We are not a tree removal company, a booking platform, or a lead-generation service. TreeCostCalc is a standalone pricing tool — nothing more. That independence is intentional: it means our numbers aren't padded to steer you toward a particular contractor.
How our estimates work
Our calculator combines a few well-established pricing inputs used across the tree care industry:
- Height and trunk diameter (DBH) — the two biggest drivers of labor time and equipment needs.
- Species density — hardwoods like oak take longer to cut and haul than softer species like pine or palm.
- Site accessibility — proximity to structures, power lines, and fences, plus whether a crane needs to be mobilized.
- ZIP code regional adjustment — labor rates vary significantly by region, and our multiplier reflects that.
- Add-ons — stump grinding, debris haul-away, and emergency/storm-response premiums.
The result is a realistic price range, not a single misleading number — because that's how real quotes work too.
⚠️ Estimates only. TreeCostCalc gives you a starting reference point. Actual pricing depends on a physical site visit. Always get at least three written quotes from a licensed, insured, ISA Certified Arborist® before booking any work.
What we stand for
Transparency
Every input that affects your estimate is visible and adjustable — no hidden formulas, no black box.
Always free
No sign-up, no email gate, no paywall. The calculator stays free to use, for everyone, indefinitely.
Independence
We don't sell leads to tree companies or take referral commissions that could bias an estimate.
